a typically Italian resort offering great value for first time skiers
The typically Italian resort of Cavalese is a great choice for beginners and families. The cobbled streets of the old village centre are charming and offer several pubs and pizzerie. The ski area of Alpi di Cermis has north-facing slopes meaning Cavalese has an excellent snow record. Speak to your Crystal rep about trips to nearby Val di Fassa which gives access to the huge Dolomiti Superski area with 1220km of piste.
Evenings are low-key and very Italian in Cavalese · Look out for the Pub Canton and Pub Polansky
· Ice skating rink · Free entrance to swimming pool with lift pass · Cross-country skiing · snowshoeing
Cavalese has a great range of restaurants serving local and national Italian dishes. Pizzas and pasta from approx. €7, 3-course meals from €20. Try the Restaurant Costa Salici serving local specialities or the La Salera. For mouth-watering pizzas there's El Calderon and Al Cantuccio.

The nursery slopes are situated at the top of the gondola at Dos dei Laresi, easily accessible from the rest of the ski area. This means that Cavalese is an excellent resort for groups of mixed abilities or for families with children skiing for the first time. The friendly ski instructors make learning to ski lots of fun.
The Alpe Cermis ski area offers some great skiing for intermediates and with virtually every run covered by snow-making facilities, the quality of the snow is always the best it can be. Views of some of the most beautiful mountains in the Dolomites from the top of the Cermis are stunning.
The Cavalese ski area is relatively limited for advanced skiers but the Olimpia piste is a black run 7.2kms long with a vertical drop of 1350m. Winding throught the trees it has some challenging walls and curves. There's always the chance of going further afield, to Obereggen and Pampeago or even to the Dolomiti Superski area, and putting some kilometres under your skis.
The gentle slopes of Cavalese are a great place to learn to board. Terrain for intermediates, however is a bit limited. Just up the road in the Latemar ski area there is a snowpark and half pipe.
